Cocktails+Cuisine with Ken Tuccio & Erin Brady

What happens when one radio host, Ken Tuccio of 95.9 First Thing Fairfield County, one Miss USA 2013, Erin Brady, and two bloggers (that’s us) get together to have drinks and dinner at 2 different hot spots around South Norwalk? This blog post happens; plus, we learn a whole lot more about each other!

In our new series, “Cocktails+Cuisine with Ken Tuccio,” we’ll be visiting different towns in Fairfield County to eat, drink, and do our blog thang (Ken is our go-to expert for the best eating and drinking spots in FC). We’ll also be inviting an interesting guest to throw into the mix each time. Enjoy!

Neighborhood:

South Norwalk, aka SoNo

Hot spots:

The Spread – Our meeting spot for pre-dinner drinks…and some small plates because who doesn’t love to graze?

Match – Seasonal new American cuisine with amazing craft cocktails located right on Washington Street. Great people watching!

Interesting guest:

Erin Brady. Miss USA 2013. Erin is the first woman from the state of Connecticut ever to be crowned Miss USA. What’s she doing now? Being a whiz in the finance world, and being generally awesome, as you would imagine a Miss USA to be.

Did we mention that we had met Ken Tuccio once before and Erin Brady, never? Didn’t phase us, we just pulled out our favorite “getting to know you” questions. The kind of questions that can help you learn the very essence of a person in the shortest period of time.

Let’s get started at The Spread, 70 North Main Street, SoNo.

Erin Brady, Bev Canepari, Ken Tuccio, Lora Karam in front of the coolest wall.

We loved The Spread’s industrial-shabby-chic vibe. We also very much liked the cocktail names such as; The Tea Bag, Fog Horn, Intro To Awesome, and Mexican Donkey!

Mango Mojito and Amendolia. Mmmmm. Let the unwinding and questioning begin…

One of The Spread’s owners, Chris Hickey, and Ken

Dream Job?

Bev – Unlocking the world tv show!

Lora – What Bev said!

Ken – Professional traveler (if that’s even a thing)

Next stop…out into the balmy, i.e. super humid, night and a short 10-minute walk to Match, 98 Washington Street, SoNo.

Match has a hip, fun, upscale feel to it. We liked the stainless steel/velvet combo and for the architectural lighting we give it a 10! Oh, and the practically 360° mirror in the ladies room! We notice these things 😉 The food and bevs were of course ridiculously good….and we shared a LOT of dishes! More questioning, more eating. We love this blog series already!

What song do you know all the words to?

Erin – I know all the words to every Elton John song

Bev – Most Abba songs

Lora – Anything 80s basically

Farthest place I have traveled is….

Erin – Russia

Bev – Russia

Lora – France

Ken – Tahiti

Wasabi Tuna seared sesame – wasabi crusted Ahi, sweet soy coconut rice cake, smooth avocado & sriracha

The most annoying question you’re repeatedly asked?

Erin – “Why did you go back into finance after winning Miss USA?”

Bev – “You’re from Scotland? I can’t hear your accent.”

Lora – “What camera is that? It takes great pictures.” 😐

Ken – “How do you wake up that early every morning?”

Ricotta Gnocchi ‘kisses from angels’ tossed black truffle burro fusso & Parmesan Reggiano, finished with a shower of Italian Black Summer Truffles

What song or artist are you embarrassed to admit to liking?

Erin – I am embarrassed about loving Justin Bieber. I saw him three times in concert last year.

Bev – “I Drove All Night” – the Celine Dion version

Lora – I’m obsessed with The Monkees

Ken – “Summer Girls” – LFO

And with that, we said our goodbyes, and rolled on home – happy bloggers!

What great eating neighborhood should we hit up next? We’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments!
